Transportation

How safe is Cancun?

All of or guides are locals who know the best places to visit during our tours.  Although some of the locations that we visit on our tours are not frequented by tourists our guides ensure the safety of our guests at all times.    Cancun is an amazing city that has many great locations to visit of the beaten track and we aim to  show you the culture and heart of the city out of the tourist limelight.   

How do I get to my photo walks?

Each of our 2 hour photowalks has a meeting location that is easy to get to by either city bus or local taxi.    We have chosen meeting locations that all taxi drivers in Cancun will know.    If you are unsure of taking public transportation we offer hotel pickup and drop off for an additioinal fee.  

Hotel Pick Up and Drop Off

All of our 4 hour private tours and our private day trips include complimentary hotel pick up and drop off at Cancun Hotels and Resorts.   Provide the name of your hotel when you book your tour and your guide will pick you up at the entrance to your resort at the tour start time.   For 4 hour tours pick up to Riviera Maya Resorts will incur extra charges.  

What type of vehicles are used for the tour?

For most of our tours our guides use their own vehicles.  When we have larger group tours we use Terminus Transfer Van Service and our Driver Arturo.   In some cases when we have multiple larger tours we will utilize a local van rental agency.    All of the vehicles used during our tours are inspected for safety and regular maintenance to ensure our guest safety.   Most of he vehicles used on our tours will have air conditioning but we can not guarentee this.  If you absolutely require air conditioning please add a note on your booking so we can ensure the vehicle assigned to your tour is equipped. 

Trip Preparation

What should I bring on the trip?

It's a good idea to wear comfortable walking shoes as most of our tours will require a lot of walking.   

As Cancun can get very hot pleas ensure that you bring a hat and are wearing sunscreen. 

Please bring bottled water and any snacks you might want throughout the day.

We can stop at local convenience stores throughout the day however some tours in remote areas may not have stores.  

What do I need to know beforehand?

We want your tour to be a memorable one of a kind experience.  Please send us an email with any special requests or must visit places during your tour so we can make the most of your day.   If you have any questions, concerns or comments we would love to hear from you.

Can I make specific requests?

We want to tailor your tour to what you want to learn and where you want to go.  If there are specific types of photography you would like to focus on during your tour, skills you want to master, or locations you want to visit we will tailor your tour to your requests.

Please send us an email with any special requests that you have and we will do our best to make it happen. 

An Important Note About Photography

Many sites no longer allow the use of tripods or will charge an incredibly large fee to bring a tripod on site. If you are touring to Chichen Itza, Tulum or Coba we reccomend that you bring a gorilla pod instead as you may not be able to bring a tripod on site. Some sites will also charge for the use of video cameras. If you wish to bring a video camera on your tour please note that there may be an additional fee. Fees at most Archaeological Sites must be paid in Mexican Pesos. Our tours have a photography focus. Throughout the tour you will get individualized tips and tricks based on your skill level and what you want to learn. As the tour progresses our guide is able to assess what can help you to take better pictures and will focus on the areas that are of interest to you. Plus he will give you lots of tips that you can use in the future to keep shooting great images. Following your tour your guide will upload the images from your tour to a dropbox folder and will email you with the details on how to download your images. Please allow up to 7 days for your guide to process the images.

Meals and Beverages

Does my tour include meals?

Unless otherwise noted on the tour description most of our tours do not include meals.   On our full day trips we do plan for a break mid day to stop for lunch.  Your guide can suggest some restaurants in the area.  The lunch break is not mandatory, If you prefer not to stop during the tour just let your guide know.

Can I bring snacks on my tour?

Yes.  Please feel free to bring snacks to eat throughout the day.  Please respect the driver and his/her vehicle and do not leave wrappers and garbage in the vehicle.

What about drinks?

Beverages are not included in the tour packages.  When you stop for lunch you may purchase beverages for your tour.  Please note that alcoholic beverages are not permitted in the tour vehicles.   

Should I bring water?

Yes.   Please bring water with you on your tour.   It is important to stay hydrated as we will be doing a lot of walking in the heat.  If at any time you feel that the heat is getting to you please ensure that you tell your guide immediately.  

Cancellations

Can I cancel my tour?
  • We require 24 hours notice to cancel a photowalk in order to process a refund.
  • For Private 4 hour tours and day trips the initial deposit is non-refundable as it is required to reserve the date, vehicle and staff for your tour.
  • We understand that things can happen and we will do our best to accommodate a different date for your tour to which the deposit can be applied. Please notify us as soon as possible so that we may accommodate you and find an alternate date for your tour.
What if it is raining?

Unfortunately we can't control the weather.   Most of time rain is intermittent in Cancun and we don't have to cancel the tours.  In the event of extreme weather we will try to reschedule your tour for another day.  If we are unable to reschedule we would provide a refund.
